What is computer Secondary storage-DisksWhenever

Whenever  the  computer  is  turned  off  the  contents  of  primary storage  (RAM)  are  lost .  But  the  contents  of secondary storage remain unaffected. For secondary storage ,  the  obvious  choice  is floppy  disks , CD / DVDs, and  hard disks . In addition, you can also use tapes for secondary storage. A floppy disk or hard disk consists of a plastic  plate on which the material that can be magnetized  is glued. The working of floppy disk or hard disk is some what similar to that of audio or video tapes.
A few years ago, floppy disks used to come  in two sizes : 5.2 - inch and 3.5-inch . But  now  5 . 25 - inch  floppy  disks  are  almost  non existent. In computers, one kilo means  not  1000  but  1024 .  Also notice the following relations:

                                 1 Kilo * 1 kilo = 1 mega
                                 1 Kilo * 1 mega =1 giga

A  floppy  disk  also  consists  of  a  label  area  and  a  write protect notch. Write floppy number, and  other  information  on  the  label area .  Write  protect  noch is provided so that you can prevent the accidental erasure of data in the disk. In order to write protect the 3.5-inch disk, slide the tab  so  that  a square hole is formed on the disk. When you want to write on this  disk  then again slide the tab to its original position so that square hole gets  covered by the  tab So this is all about the computer secondary storage- disks.
